When Jane was a little girl, she vowed to remain a virgin until her wedding day. Now that Jane is 23, her fiance, Michael, is on board with the plan and their lives are on track. But a mix-up during a routine medical exam gives birth to a series of miraculous mishaps. Now Jane is pregnant; the baby's father is her former crush and current boss, Rafael; and Jane's own father, whom she's never met, is the leading man in her favourite telenovela. It's as though her life is a soap opera and Jane is the star. Gina Rodriguez leads a glowing ensemble cast in this heartfelt and hilarious comedy adored by critics and audiences alike.

Jane the Virgin Season 1 Review by Michelle
Star
Jane Villanueva Cordero is a student teacher, an aspiring writer and a devout Catholic – but when she becomes pregnant after being accidentally artificially inseminated during a routine checkup, Jane’s whole life becomes as complicated and unpredictable as the telenovelas she watches with her mother and grandmother every day.

1) Did you like it?

Yep! I was pretty much obsessed from episode one.

2) Why?

Jane the Virgin has pretty much everything. No really…how many series include a love triangle and a murder mystery? There’s just as much plot crammed into every episode of Jane the Virgin than there is in your average episode of 24, but don’t worry about getting left behind – the narrator will keep you up to speed at all times. Jane the Virgin is funny, it’s dramatic, and it stars a host of amazing characters you’re going to love. But be careful: once you’ve started watching, you’ll be hooked. Don’t say we didn’t warn you…

3) You would enjoy this series if…

You’re looking to escape from the real world for a while.

4) This series made me think about…

Mainly why on earth I didn’t watch this earlier? And how soon is too soon to get my hands on Season 2?

5) Overall rating?

Five stars. (Posted on 22/03/2017)
