I enjoyed the characters in this film. They aren’t over or under played so they appear as personalities that might relate to your own family. I did find the film a touch underwhelming, as it hovered just above the point of conjuring deeper emotion from the audience. Overall I found The Farewell enjoyable and thoughtful.

Sweet and touching comedy-drama about an unlikely family situation, exploring the cultural differences arising between a first-generation immigrant in America and her Chinese family. Didn't really wow me, but it is a pleasant and funny journey, and Awkwafina gives a great performance in the lead role. Worth a watch.

It was interesting to see the film adaptation of a story I originally heard on a podcast a few years ago. Sad, Funny, Heartwarming.

Solid blockbuster sci-fi with a slower pace and emotional focus, along the lines of Arrival or Interstellar. Despite not being on board with all the details of the narrative, I really liked the aesthetic that the film creates, which allowed me to settle in and enjoy the ride. Very entertaining even if I wasn't left pondering the larger themes after the film finished. Recommended!

Quite a visually beautiful and well acted film but the nonsensical plot overshadowed all the good parts for me.

I enjoyed this film. As a young woman myself I was able to relate to a lot of the themes explored. I also highly appreciated the strong female friendship and the raw honesty and simplicity with which it was portrayed. Great cast, acting and direction. - Mali

Unfortunately I didn't enjoy this as much as Chapter 1; it was too long and overly complicated, with a fair amount of unnecessary scenes. Whilst the casting and the acting was great, it wasn't quite put together enough to capture me through this long watch

Too much relying on cheap jump-scares that makes it less scary and at times, very predictable. Didn't like it when they do too many irrational things for the sake of steering the story a certain way. The characters come together to kill Pennywise, yet they withhold important information from each other, don't let each other explain what's going on or talk things through right from the beginning. The characters were funny as kids, which I liked but put those traits into grown adults and it can come across completely differently. They also tried to rely on the first one too much by doing these irrelevant flashbacks. Not scary, bad storytelling.

A mostly funny and entertaining film - it's a lot of the same humor that you've seen many times before but still an enjoyable enough watch.

This is a sweet movie. Nothing to write home about and not necessarily memorable, but an easy watch if you want to switch off.

Despite the extreme brutality depicted in the film, I really enjoyed this revenge story. - Shawn

This is feel good viewing at it's best. It's fast paced, has all the feels and the plot and cast are true to the original series. - Maya

Found this film quite boring - a couple of scenes which grabbed my attention but not enough to create an overall engaging movie. - Shawn

I can see what he was trying to do with this film and can certainly appreciate the desire to follow your own artistic direction once you reach a point in your career. But unfortunately this nostalgic and reflective piece left a lot to be desired for me; often too slow and isolated to capture my attention though an unnecessarily long watch. Having said this, the acting cinematography, costume and set design were all fantastic.
