    1. Did you like it?

    Yes. I'm Hooked.

    2. Why/Why not?

I was very sceptical about this TV series, having been a huge fan of the movie. However, I was pleased to find that the TV series can stand alone from the film; it is not just a 'drawn out version' of the film. Rather it delves deeper into the details of this true story and explores the characters and their motivations.

    3. You would enjoy this movie/TV series/CD if…

You like crime dramas and dark humour. I also think that if you liked 'Fargo' the film you will like the series.

    4. This movie/TV series/CD made me think…

About rules and why we do/don't break them.

    5. Stars out of five?

I haven't finished the series yet, so its hard to rate it, but so far I'd give it 4 stars.

  • Fast Five Review: Temple Grandin (2010)

    Review by - Naomi

    1. Did you like it?

    Loved it!

    2. Why/Why not?

This is the quirky true story of a young woman with Autism and how she overcomes her struggles throughout her schooling and home life to grow up to live an independent, fruitful life. It was heartbreaking to see the kind of adversity she faced, but it felt so good whenever she had a win.  Temple thinks in pictures and slowly learns to use her unconventional way of thinking to help her cope with the world and attempts to win over her detractors with her highly logical systems.

    3. You would enjoy this movie/TV series/CD if…

...you love a feelgood, underdog film.

    4. This movie/TV series/CD made me think…

I just felt happy, this was such a great movie!  It made me think how great it is that there is a place for everyone in the world, you just have to find where your strengths are best spent.

  • Fast Five Review: Tony Robinson's Time Walks Series 1 (2012)

    Reviewer - Jennifer

    1. Did you like it?

Yes. It took a couple of episodes to really get into the swing of things, but it was really quirky and entertaining.

    2. Why/Why not?

I have some memories of watching Tales from Fat Tulip’s Garden as a kid, and Tony Robinson uses the same manic style of narration here while exploring of some of Australia’s cities, suburbs and towns. Passers-by get dragged into the picture, helping to tell the stories of what happened there in the past. At one point Robinson even ends up in a private home re-enacting a Victorian-era domestic dispute. He revels in the violent and salacious tales of early white settlement, and dredges up some more recent history as well, especially in Brisbane where he paints a colourful picture of the WWII years. Somehow even in Sydney and Melbourne he manages to mostly stay off the beaten track, revealing bizarre facts, dirty secrets and eccentric characters that even the locals might not know about.

    3. "You would enjoy this series if..."

You’re the kind of person who enjoys wandering the city on foot and peeking down all the side streets and laneways you can find.

    4. "This series made me think..."

How much I’d love to visit Hobart again and explore it some more.
