A Quiet Place Review by Digitales Film Club

In general, did people enjoy this film?

There have been mixed feelings about this film. While most of us agreed that it did well to create suspense and immerse you in the world, there were criticisms about it’s originality and ability to step out of the box. The concept was such that further exploration could have been possible. While we applaud John Krasinski for trying something new, it perhaps needed more work to elevate it beyond the regular edge-of-your seat drama.

What did they like / not like about it?

The film had an interesting concept. The casting and performances were particularly notable. I thought there were some ideas that were perhaps left unexplored, and frustrating plot points that had me questioning the characters. But overall a very immersive experience. - Mali

I didn’t feel that there was anything at all unique or interesting about this film whatsoever beyond the premise. While the idea behind the movie definitely piqued my interest, it was very disappointing to see that it was handled in the safest, most uninspired way possible! Totally risk-free. The characters were similarly drab and formulaic. For me, this was just another entry in a long line of average post-apocalyptic sci-fi movies. - Liam

Enjoyed it for pure entertainment, actually a bit scary. An interesting premise. If you set aside the unexplained/holes/WTF occurrences it becomes believable to a degree. Shades of “Alien” and “Pitch Black” for me, looking forward to the sequel ……or prequel. – Eddy

Keywords used to describe this movie:

Thriller. Sci-Fi. Post-Apocalyptic. Average. Formulaic. Suspenseful. Emotional. Frustrating.

Would people recommend it to a friend?
