Professor Marston and the Wonder Women is based on the extraordinary true story of the creator of one of the most iconic super heroes ever conceived, and the seductive secret life he kept from his fans. Harvard psychologist Dr William Moulton Marston (Luke Evans) was roundly criticised for the creation of his feminist superhero, but it was his personal life, with his polyamorous relationship with his wife, Elizabeth (Rebecca Hall) and their lover, Olive (Bella Heathcote), that was more provocative than any adventure he had ever written.

Digitales Reviews

Professor Marston and the Wonder Woman Review by Digitales Film Club
In general, did people enjoy this film?

The general consensus was that this film was overdone and heavy-handed. While the story was interesting, the way it was written and directed lacked a subtlety that would’ve made it a more enjoyable watch. The subject matter was pushed too hard and a lot of the scenes seemed unrealistic. Having said that it was interesting to learn about the creation of Wonder Woman and the exploration of an unconventional relationship, especially during that time period.

What did they like / not like about it?

Like: That it questions the traditional conditioning of what a relationship should look like. I enjoyed how the movie delved into human behavior both in a small and larger scale.
Did not like: Overall the film felt a little ‘clumsy’ due to missing the small details. Like it just missed the ‘art house’ feel that could have elevated a great dialogue. – Sally

I did not know the story behind the Wonder Woman comic [so I liked that it explored that]. – Sarah

I enjoyed watching it, and learning about the history of Wonder Woman. However I definitely think there was a lot lacking in this movie and a lot that could’ve been done better. There was potential there. – Mali

Keywords used to describe this movie:
