They still celebrate the events in Massachusetts, with their own State holiday, called Patriots' Day. Nowadays it is a Monday holiday, rather than occurring on the 18th, just as Nebraska's Arbor Day is celebrated as a Friday holiday, rather than on J. Sterling Morten's birthday. In more recent history for me, Patriots' Day also marks the running of the Boston Marathon, and those of you who have been reading my blogs for years know that this is a special event for me, having encouraged my brother here finding his joy in running. He first ran the Boston Marathon inand last ran it inalthough he met me in Boston injust months before his passing.
InKevin was in an poes boot, when he came to the 5K on the Saturday before, to cheer me on. We took in a Red Sox game with a local friend on Sunday. And we were both spectators at Kenmore Square, a mile from source finish line of the Marathon on Monday.
I will always cherish having those meetings in the last year of his life. They won't be running the Marathon this Monday, deferring it to October, due to the Covid precautions.]
