This movement went through many phases due to global recessions, embargo's, and the rapid innovations of technology. Technology would play an important role in dictating how furniture and interior designs would almost revolve around technology. One of the most important movements in history, the Memphis Movement, came from Post Modernism and was a group of designers who were dedicated to abolishing Modernism and the strictness of its designs.
In a way, this movement was very similar to the Vienna Secession, or Bauhaus, modernism to postmodernism a gathering of designers expressed their opinion to reject designs of the past and set a new standard for the future.
