As with most democratic nations in the world, the Singapore government split itself into three branches: the Legislature, the Executive, and the Judiciary. The differences between Singapore and UK, however, is that our system is a unicameral one, which means that the Legislature only has one chamber of elected officials and we do not have a monarch; instead, we have a President. If we were to sum it up, Singapore is a Parliamentary Republic, whereby the Executive system is accountable to and derives its legitimacy from the Legislature.
