Green criminology is a branch of criminology that involves the study of harms and crimes against the environment broadly conceived, including the study of environmental law and policy, the study of corporate crimes against the environment, and environmental justice from a criminological perspective. The term "green criminology" was introduced by Michael J. Lynch in , and expanded upon in Nancy Frank and Michael J. Lynch's book, Corporate Crime, Corporate Violence , [2] which examined the political economic origins of green crime and injustice, and the scope of environmental law. The term became more widely used following publication of a special issue on green criminology in the journal Theoretical Criminology edited by Piers Beirne and Nigel South in The study of green criminology has expanded significantly over time, and is supported by groups such as the International Green Criminology Working Group. Though green criminology was originally proposed as a political economic approach for the study of environmental harm, crime, law and justice, there are now several varieties of green criminology as noted below. The initial grounding of green criminology was in political economic theory and analysis. In his original article, [10] Lynch proposed green criminology as an extension of radical criminology and its focus on political economic theory and analysis. In that view, it was essential to examine the political economic dimensions of green crime and justice in order to understand the major environmental issues of our times and how they connect with the political economy of capitalism.Rational choice theory in criminology - sorry
Crime is a violation to societal rules of behavior as interpreted and expressed by the criminal law. These criminal behaviors can reflect the public opinion, traditional views and the view point of those who contain social or political authority. In this paper I will discuss about Dori Myers, a formal social studies teacher at New School for Leadership and the Arts, a public school located in the Bronx. Myers was accused back in January for performing oral sex on a year-old male student, multiple times. There was also a witness, such as another teacher who saw Myers massaging the year-old as well. rational choice theory in criminologyHaving doubts about how to write your paper correctly?
Bounded rationality is the idea that rationality is limited when individuals make decisions. Limitations include the difficulty of the decision problem, the cognitive capability of the mind, and theorg time available to make the decision. Decision-makers, in this view, act as satisficersseeking a satisfactory rather than an optimal solution. Therefore, humans do not undertake criminnology full rational choice theory in criminology analysis to determine the optimal decision, but, rather, choose an option that fulfils their adequacy criteria.
Herbert A. Simon proposed bounded rationality as an alternative basis for the mathematical modeling of decision-makingas used in economicspolitical scienceand related disciplines. It complements "rationality as optimization", which views decision-making as a fully rational process of finding an optimal choice given the information available. The concept of bounded rationality continues to influence and be debated in different disciplines, including economics, psychology, law, political science, and cognitive science.
The Biological Positivist Theory Of Criminology
The term was coined by Herbert A. In Models of ManSimon argues that most people are only partly rational, and are irrational in the remaining part of their actions. In another work, he states "boundedly rational agents experience limits in formulating and solving complex problems and in processing receiving, storing, retrieving, transmitting information ". These include:. Simon suggests that economic agents use heuristics to make decisions rather than a strict rigid rule of optimization.

They do this because of the complexity of the situation. An example of behaviour inhibited by heuristics can be seen when comparing the strategies in easy situations e. Both games, as defined by game theory economics, are finite games with perfect information and therefore equivalent.
As decision-makers have to make decisions about how and when to decide, Ariel Rubinstein proposed to model bounded rationality by explicitly specifying decision-making procedures. Gerd Gigerenzer opines that decision theorists have not really adhered to Simon's original ideas.
Rather, they have considered how decisions may be crippled by limitations to rationality, or have modeled how people might cope with their inability to optimize. Gigerenzer proposes and shows that simple heuristics often lead to better decisions than theoretically optimal procedures.
Huw Dixon later argues that it may not be necessary to analyze in detail the process of reasoning underlying bounded rationality.]
