Do they exhibit the ability to overcome the challenges of life or are they defeated by them? Do they respond to injustice with vengeance or do they work to eradicate it? Do they see themselves as responsible agents in the process of th reform or do they see all problems as being caused by other people? We may as well pray to the god of fire or thunder.
Neither can I conceive of God as some super being enforcing a carefully defined set of regulations that sifts out the deserving from the undeserving. Every form of religion promoting this vision of God seem to be just a bit too contrived to match the needs and desires of the religious elite.
In essence it reduces God to our human abilities to conceptualize and organize. Nor can I accept a concept of a God that is so loving that it denies the existence and weight of evil that is so evident in our world.]
