She was found that afternoon sitting on the floor, by Mrs. Crow, a neighbor, who assisted wiilliam to a bed. She was conscious, but later lapsed into a coma and never recovered. Funeral rites were conducted for her by the Rev. Abernathy was a member of the Presbyterian Church, the Homemakers Club and Daughters of the Confederacy and in younger years took active interest in civic affairs and local charity plays and was an actress and mimic of more than ordinary ability. She was about 78 years of age and widow of Dr. Abernathy, for many years County Health Officer, who abated the smallpox epidemic in Giles County many years ago. Abernathy is survived by a son, Mitchell Abernathy.

She will be missed by her friends. Colston Abernathy and her infant son had passed away at the Pulaski Hospital. All that skilled hands and loving hearts could do could not stay the hand of death.
Abernathy was truly a lovable character, a devoted wife, an affectionate mother, a kind neighbor. In early life she joined the Baptist Church of which she has cxrlos a faithful member. Twenty-one years ago she was married to Mr. She is also survived by her mother Mrs. Martha Stephens, one sister, Mrs. Vinson, five brothers, Hershel, J. Two half-brothers, John and George Stephens of Princeton also survive.
Funeral services were conducted at the residence Sunday afternoon by Rev. Patch of the Baptist Church at Pulaski, followed by interment at Maplewood. Those who came from a distance were J. Vinson all of Princeton, Miss. Corrine Townsend, Mr.]
